This radio works with six "C" batteries. ( Not included) This is an AM Radio that works with transistors. Sears Roebuck and Company started selling Silvertone radios in the late 1920s. During that time only AM stations were available. FM stations started during late 1930s or early 1940s. The radio is installed inside the case and the battery compartment is inside. On one side it has the station selection and on the other side it has the On/Off with the volume.
